SULTANPUR - Remembering where Mool Mantar first recited on this earth
This piece is created in remembrance of the sacred land of Sri Sultanpur Sahib—a place forever blessed by the presence of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It was here that Guru Sahib spent more than thirteen years, illuminating the hearts of the people and sanctifying the land through their presence, teachings, and divine grace. The blessings of that time continue to be felt here even today.
Throughout the creation of this artwork, one memory remained alive in our minds: the profound event that took place on the banks of the Veyi'n Nadi—an event that transcends the limits of time and space as we know them. It was here that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji immersed themselves in the waters of the Veyi'n Nadi and, after three days, reappeared and uttered the divine revelation that begins with the Mool Mantar. This was not merely a historical moment, but a turning point for humanity—a moment in which the eternal truth was revealed to the world.
During our visit to Sri Sultanpur Sahib, we walked this land with that memory in our hearts. We sat by the river, reflected upon this blessed event, and attempted, in our own small way, to connect with the spirit of that moment. The energy, remembrance, and inspiration gathered there found their way into every stage of this piece's creation.
We hope that when this artwork finds a place on your wall, it serves as more than a visual reminder of a sacred place. May it bring to mind the Guru, the divine revelation received on these banks, and the One who is nearer to us than our own hands and feet—present with us in every breath, every moment, even now as you read these words, and later as your eyes return to this piece.
Another special aspect of this artwork is the region it portrays: the place where the Veyi'n Nadi meets the River Beas. This confluence carries its own deep spiritual significance. It was from the waters of the Beas that Dhan Sri Guru Amar Das Ji Maharaj lovingly carried water for the ishnaan of Dhan Sri Guru Angad Dev Ji Maharaj. For years, Guru Amar Das Ji performed this seva with unwavering devotion, humility, and love, demonstrating the path of complete surrender to the Guru.
The rivers represented in this piece carry not only water, but the memories of revelation, devotion, and seva. They remind us of the footsteps of the Guru, the love of the Sikh tradition, and the timeless connection between the Divine and those who seek it with sincerity.
