MULTAN - Remembering Bhai Nand Lal Goya Multani
Multan sits in between the rivers Raavi and Jhelum. The city is one of the most beautiful places on this earth for the people that lived and travelled to it.
Multan is known as the city of the Sufis. During the 11 and 12th century, a multitude of Sufis lived in the city of Multan.
Our inspiration behind choosing the city of Multan comes from two instances of history related to this city.
The beloved, Bhai Nand Lal Goya "Multani", who was a renowned poet in the Anandpur Darbar of Guru Gobind Singh Ji - is known to have lived in the city if Multan. It is said that Guru Gobind Singh asked Bhai Nand Lal Ji to leave for Multan before everyone else left the city of Anandpur Sahib. They spent the rest of their life teaching in the city. There was a Madrasa named after Bhai Nand Lal Ji in Multan for a long time but it does not seem to be there anymore. That is why they have "Multani" added to the end of their name.
The other connection to the city is the beautiful Sakhi of when Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji visited the city of Multan.
